ARCHIVE EPISODE: Webster Phillips is part of a lineage of great photographers, his father Irving Henry Webster Philips Jr. was the first Black photographer at the Baltimore Sun, his grandfather Irving Henry Webster Philips Sr. was a photographer at the Baltimore Afro-American Newspaper. Webster is a great photographer and artist on his own, but sits down with us to discuss the incredible archive of his grandfathers work and the legacy of 3 generations photographing Black life in Baltimore. Since this originally aired, Webster and his father founded the I Henry Photo Project archiving and researching the subjects of the many photos in the family archives.

This is an archive episode with hosts Joe Giordano and Elena Volkova originally released in 2017.
