Natalie Keyssar, a documentary photographer in Brooklyn, New York, kicks off our first episode back by discussing her compelling work that focuses on the personal effects of political conflict, youth culture, and migration especially in Ukraine. With a BFA in Painting and Illustration from The Pratt Institute, she has gone on to work for The New York Times Magazine, Time, Bloomberg Business Week, National Geographic, The New Yorker, and California Sunday Magazine. She has been awarded by organizations including the Philip Jones Griffith Award, the Aaron Siskind Foundation, PDN 30, Magenta Flash Forward, and American Photography. In addition, she is the winner of the 2018 ICP Infinity Emerging Photographer Award, the 2019 PH Museum Women Photographer’s Grant, and in 2020 she became a Canon Explorer of Light.
